Tour de la Chapelle Castrale

The rehabilitation of the Tour de la Chapelle Castrale, located in Enghien, Belgium, presented significant structural challenges. Adapting the new structure to the geometry of the historic building required precision, while also necessitating careful integration with the existing roof’s incline. Additionally, the use of roof lifting methods with pre-assembly at ground level was essential to ensure the safety and efficiency of the work execution without compromising the integrity of the heritage.

Challenge

  • Structure Adaptation: Adjust the new structure to the building’s complex geometry.
  • Roof Incline: Integrate the new roof with the existing incline.
  • Roof Lifting: Use lifting techniques with ground-level pre-assembly.

Solution

To tackle these challenges, METALUSA implemented two innovative and efficient solutions: the ADAPT® multidirectional system and the ALUCOVE® roofing system.

The ADAPT® multidirectional system proved to be the perfect choice for the necessary structural adaptation, ensuring flexibility and stability. This system, due to its versatility, allowed for a perfect fit to the building’s various configurations, ensuring the work was carried out safely and precisely, while respecting the historic architecture of the Chapelle Castrale.

For the roof, the ALUCOVE® system was chosen, a robust yet lightweight aluminum solution with a canvas covering. Thanks to its adjustable 36° incline, the ALUCOVE® perfectly adapted to the existing roof, providing reliable and long-lasting protection for the building. This solution not only guarantees the structure’s safety but also contributes to the monument’s preservation by protecting it from adverse weather conditions.

The rehabilitation of the Tour de la Chapelle Castrale demonstrates how combining innovation and respect for historical heritage can result in effective and safe solutions. METALUSA, with its solutions, has proven to be the ideal partner for large-scale projects, ensuring the preservation and safety of historic buildings with modern and efficient methods.
