The Gare de Lessines project, located in Lessines, Belgium, presented significant challenges in creating a pedestrian bridge over the railway line. The solution required a robust and safe system with high load capacity and an 11-meter clear span, essential to ensure the safety and efficiency of pedestrian access. METALUSA was chosen to provide innovative and suitable solutions for this complex project.
Challenges:
The structure needed to support a load of 5 KN/m² throughout its entire length. The large clear span of the central structure, 11 meters, posed an additional challenge, requiring a safe and efficient lifting system for assembly. Additionally, the solution needed to be practical and optimize execution time.
Solution:
METALUSA, specialized in modular access and structure solutions, responded to these challenges with the combination of two highly efficient systems: Shorflex® and ADAPT®.
Shorflex®, a modular shoring system, was used for the central structure, providing a simple and safe assembly. With pre-assembly at ground level, it was possible to efficiently raise the structure, minimizing risks and optimizing time. The connection of Shorflex profiles to the ADAPT® multidirectional structure was achieved through linking elements that ensured flexibility and precision in adapting the solution.
For pedestrian access, the ADAPT® public staircase was used, compliant with the NF P93-523 standard, providing a safe and accessible solution. The ease of installation and robustness of the ADAPT® system allowed agile and secure access for pedestrians, in full compliance with safety standards.
The combination of Shorflex® and ADAPT® systems resulted in an effective solution with fast and safe assembly. The Gare de Lessines project is an example of how METALUSA manages to adapt its solutions to the complexity of each challenge, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of public infrastructures. Flexibility, innovation, and commitment to quality are the pillars that guaranteed the success of this project.
